Truck delivering a Performance Carts cart for a high school band

Why do we ask about loading docks?

Our carts ship on a pallet, wrapped in heavy-duty, shrink-wrapped vinyl.  Frieight charges can vary substantially depending on where the shipment is sent and how it is unloaded.  The absolute least expensive place to receive a pallet is a commercial address with a loading dock or forklift.  Many of our shipmens are required to go to schools, but all truck lines consider schools a "limited access" location and charge an extra $50 - $100 for school delivery.  This does not apply to school district warehouses that are not integraged into a school campus.  If you require a liftgate for delivery then the carrier will charge another $50 - $100. One thing to keep in mind is that once the pallet is on the ground, if you ask the driver to carry it inside for you, it will increase the charge another $50 +/-.  The best thing is to simply cut off the shrink wrap (carefully) and roll it inside yourself.  Taking off the shrink wrap while the driver is there also allows you to check for damage.  Either your dealer or Performance Carts will provide you with a solid estimate of shipping cost before you place your order.  This information is simply to help you understand the process.

One option that is sometimes available to save money is for the shipment to arrive at the local carrier's terminal to be picked up there by someone with a truck or trailer.  They will load it for you.  Keep in mind that if it isn't picked up in a day or two the carrier will start charging storage fees.

It is crucial that you check for any potential damage while the driver is still at the school.  Require that the driver make note of the damage on both copies of the receipt.  Once you sign the receipt you are certifying that you received the shipment in good condition.  That doesn't mean that you are without hope, but it does make things much harder in the claims process.  Thoroughly document any damage with photographs, preferably while the driver is still on site.  Performance Carts will work with you to replace the cart or make other arrangements that are satisfactory to you.

99% of all deliveries happen with no problems, but making sure that the shipment is met by someone that knows to check for damage is very important to avoid hassles.
